Here we have a beautiful antique 1910-1912 gilt 900 silver figural owl cigar cutter from Louis Kuppenheim of Pforzheim, Germany.This Louis Kuppenheim owl cigar cutter is fantastic, it is in very nice condition with only light wear and light evidence of use.The richly gilt covered silver owl is highly detailed in layers of deep relief, it has applied yellow and black glass eyes.This use of the gold gilt on the .900 silver owl adds wonderful depth and the subtle highlights of areas ...with light tarnish add further layers.On the the front panel the owl is depicted straight-on with the reverse having the back of owl, the owl's tail extends nicely below the frame.This cigar cutter is hallmarked on the reverse with 900 for silver purity and with the fancy script "LK" mark in use 1910-1912 for Louis Kuppenheim.The hidden steel blades extend from the case by use of the two gilt ball feet, cutting is performed in a scissor or cliping manner.At the top is a pierced mount which holds the original ring for attaching this cutter to a chatelaine, fob or necklace.It measures 1 11/16" (43.5mm) top to bottom, with the ring 1 15/16" (49.5mm), it is 3/4" (19mm) wide, 5/16" (8mm) thick and weighs 21 grams.The blades are in nice condition with light scratching from use, there is light gilt loss and tarnish on the surface of the owl.It is in beautiful condition with only a few tiny edge nicks, there is no damage and it is working well as intended with ease in cutting.This is a beautiful antique gilt 900 silver figural owl cigar cutter from Louis Kuppenheim and it will make a great addition to any collection.Please see all photos as they are part of our description and note that we use high resolution to capture a very close image.Also, feel free to let us know if you would like more photos of this piece, certain angles or have any questions.Thanks for looking and please note this auction ends at 9:05PM Eastern Standard time on Sunday night.Please look at all of the pictures as we have attempted to cover the whole item for you to see the condition.
