This kachina doll came from my mother’s collection. She had an eye for well made pieces, and only bought signed pieces from known artists. She purchase this in the late 1990s in the Southwest, I believe in Arizona.
The doll is slightly dusty, but otherwise in excellent shape. It is hand painted and dressed with a dyed rawhide ceremonial costume. ...The doll depicts Kokopelli, playing his pipe. There are feathers, turquoise pieces, and hand painted sections on the back. It is signed on the bottom “Kokopelli”Can’t make out the signature, but it looks like maybe Julian Yizzo?
