BEAUTIFUL VINTAGE KAY FINCH CALIFORNIA POTTERY FOOTED ASHTRAY MODERN RETRO LOOK PEACH/ORANGE COLOR
This is a beautiful vintage three footed ashtray made by highly acclaimed ceramist artist Kay Finch (1903-1993).
It was signed on the back with the early hand incised trademark- "Kay Finch - Cal".
It features a great classic modern multi-functional design, finished with wonderfully colorful glaze treatments, just gorgeous!
It appears to have ...been made in the early to mid 50's although she first produced her work in 1939 so it could be much earlier than that. After so many years it still retains a deep lustre throughout the entire piece.
Kay Finch Ceramics began in 1939 in a studio next to Kay and Braden Finch's home in Corona Del Mar, California. With their early success they moved to a studio and Kay Finch Ceramics retail showroom on Pacific Coast Highway. After her husband passed away in 1962, she closed the business and she died in 1993.
This is a very simple, yet beautiful, work of art! I have not been able to find another one like this anywhere on the internet. One was sold by Worthpoint at an undisclosed amount.
It has 6 cigarette rests.
It measures 3" tall, 8" in diameter, 4 1/2" opening, and weights 1.82 lbs.
It has 3 legs, one of them broke and was glued together, possibly with crazy glue or the like, some of the paint around the repair was lost. It is only noticeable if looked at from that specific angle, please see pictures.
It has one very tiny chip on the side, which is less than 1/8" in size), please see pictures.
The legs has black felt, however, one of them is missing.
It is signed Kay Finch Cal in cursive (see pictures).
Please look very carefully at all pictures as it depicts the entire item with full details, and it is part of the description.
Other than what I have disclosed above, it is in great shape. There are no chips, cracks, scratches, crazing or discoloration.
This would make a wonderful addition to anyone's collection, it is truly a beautiful piece to own, display and/or use. It appears to have been used, but it was very well taken care of, the colors are bright and unfaded, and the finish is nice and shiny. It will also make a great gift for someone special.
