Original Description:
Stone ashtray with brass cigar rest and disc base for an earlyCAPITOL table lighter.
American, ca. 1912-1920's.
Diameter: ca. 4 inches (ca. 10.3 cm.). Brass disc: ca. 1 3/16 inches (ca.3 cm.).
As is, it has some small chips and traces of old repair.
This piece came decades ago from an old time collector, with a noteidentifying it as a rare base for an early CAPITOL lighter. Unfortunately, it'sseparated from the lighter which would stand on the brass disc on ...top of theashtray. It
would be a CAPITOL with hollow base and without a screw, but unfortunately, wedon't have one to show.
