HERE IS A CLASSIC LOOKING ANTIQU...E NAVAJO RUG WITH SOME WEAR/TEAR, YET AN AMAZING LOOKING PATTERN AND MADE FROM FINE CHURRO WOOLS. THIS WEAVING, FROM THE NAVAJO PEOPLE, DATES TO ABOUT 1915 (1910-1920), HAND WOVEN WITH HAND SPUN, HAND CARDED AND HAND DYED CHURRO SHEEP WOOLS. THE GREY, BROWN, BEIGE AND WHITE WOOLS ARE NATURALLY CARDED SHEEP'S WOOL COLORS, WHILE THE RED WOOL IS HAND SPUN AND HAND DYED WITH A ANILINE DYES OBTAINED FROM THE TRADING POSTS OF THE TIME. NOTE THE STORM PATTERN REPRESENTS HOME (THE MIDDLE SECTION) AS WELL AS THE FOUR DIRECTIONS (EACH CORNER) AND THE ENERGY BETWEEN (THE LIGHTENING). THIS IS A VERY OLD RUG AND THESE ARE GETTING MORE DIFFICULT TO FIND EACH YEAR. A 100 YEAR OLD WEAVING - IT HAS WEAR AND TEAR BUT CONTINUES TO DISPLAY NICELY AS IS!
THIS WEAVING HAS LAZY LINES AND VARIEGATION OF THE GREY AND BROWN WOOL TONES (DUE TO HAND SPUN AND CARDED WOOLS), SEE PICS WITH FINGERS POINTING. THERE IS A FRAYING TO EDGES AND WEAR THROUGHOUT AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE PICS. THE WOOL IS IN GREAT CONDITION AND STILL SPORTS LUSTER SND SHEEN.
THIS IS A CLASSIC NAVAJO STORM PATTERN WEAVING WHICH DISPLAYS VERY WELL AS A WALL HANGER AS IS - (SEE PICS).

The size of this textile is approximately 64" X 35", with a hand spun wool warp of about 8, and a hand spun Wool Weft of about 32 (Fine Weave - all hand spun carded warp and weft wools)!!!. A beautifully designed, well constructed piece of Native America! THIS WEAVING HAS WEAR/TEAR AND IS IN FAIR CONDITION FOR AGE (Please see all pics!): The wools within this rug are in great condition, still have luster and sheen, and the weaving is structurally sound. There is NO Notable Fading, Some light Surface Stains, and No Notable Bleeding of color, there are some snags, frays, and a small hole... This weaving has some frying and loss on the sides and ends as you can see from the pics. Please see ALL PICs and zoom in for description. The End and Side Selvage Cords are worn, with breaks and fraying, to about 50%. The corners are in fair condition with various degrees of fraying, and the four corner ties are gone/worn due to time/use. See pic with dollar bill for size comparison.
