Thank you for looking at my auction. I am in the process of reducing my collection of timepieces which I have acquired from over the past years. Many of these watches were purchased from the original owners and have historical significance. I can't keep them all and would like to pass them on to fellow collectors who will cherish and appreciate them as much as I have!Up for sale without reserve is a beautiful GMT Master purchased from the widow of the original owner, Captain Charles B.... Yonn III. She provided me with a history of his service during Vietnam, which is attached as well. Please read her letter to get a full appreciation of her husband's service to our nation. After which, you will understand why a part of me is sad to let this one go...Although the pictures speak for themselves, please also note the following:
DIAL: The dial is 100% original and has its Tritium luminous material mostly intact. The most notable imperfection that should be noted and appears in the pictures, is a kind of offsetting or ghosting of the Tritium luminous material onto the black dial surface. This is probably a result of water moisture. In the pictures, it is most clearly visible around the 10:00 marker, and appears as a halo below the marker. This is dried tritium. As you can see in the pictures, some of the markers barely have it compared to 10:00. Again, please see the pictures. Aside from this issue, the dial is free from scratches or other defects. The dial has a deep rich black color which is a beautiful contrast tp the yellowing markers. Dial does not glow.
HANDS: The original hands have Tritium luminous that matches perfectly to the dial. Hands do not glow.
MOVEMENT: Original Rolex movement was serviced by yours truly in July 2019 with a local watchmaker last year and currently running to COSC specs. There movement is still under warranty.
CASE: All original stainless steel case has been polished during previous service. The chamfers can be restored by an experienced craftsman, but I have decided to keep the watch as it was found and let the new owner decide how to proceed. The case back is dated from 1968. The serial number and the reference number are clearly visible between the lugs.
BEZEL/INSERT: The watch has an Original Rolex bezel and insert that appears to be a replacement from a past service. The bezel functions properly.
CROWN: The watch has an original Rolex crown.
CRYSTAL: The watch has an original Rolex crystal.
BRACELET/BAND: The watch is sold on a folded 7836 bracelet with 280 end links and a clasp dated 70. The bracelet has 11 links and appears to have a little stretch. These bracelet still has a lot of life and is perfectly usable for years to come.
