An antique very old Moro Kris sword. This is a very special sword. The blade is twist core damascus with nickel steel running through the core appearing as "lighting bolts" all through the center. The edges and tip are welded on hardened steel and appear darker than the core in my photos. The hardened tip is 3.5" long. The blade is 19" and overall 24.25". The scabbard is complete but aged and a little rough though I might add this sword has seen many scabbards in it's lifetime. I don't... know exactly how old this is as distinct information on Moro swords is much harder to pin down than, for instance, the facts on Nihonto (antique japanese blades). With the exception of a couple of missing scabbard bands everything is complete on the sword. One of the bands present is aluminum. There was no aluminum in existence when this blade was made. The blade is hundreds of years old. The pommel appears exactly as you think it is. Also it is very old and aged with only some very slight age cracks. It is solid. I have done some research on this for several years and I think it is from the Sulu Kingdom. That kingdom extended from southwestern Mindanao across the Sulu sea to northeastern Borneo. That area was known for it's Sulu pirates.
