Made a trip to Apalachicola Florida in the spring of 1995, to the scallop dumps. They stopped piling fields of shells shortly after this trip, and started doing scallop harvesting at sea, so no more chance to collect there. This one is 96 mm, and the colors are dark just like when I found it, as it has been kept in a box for 24 years now. see photos. the lip is not perfect but the protoconch is fully intact, and the middle of the large whorl, see photos, shows where it healed over from... crab predation and continued to grow to this nice size. Two more scallop dump collected Junonias on my eBay auction page, check it out, and one found the fall before on Sanibel Island. I did not measure with a calipers, I used a ruler with mm lines and sighted as best as I could with the shell laying on the mm line...measurement is as close as I could get it.
