This handsome sterling silver tea pot and cream pitcher are crafted in abaluster shape with “guillochis” motifs of stylized leaves and blankcartouches on each side. The knob on the lid of the tea pot is in the shape ofa “toupie” or top. The handle of the tea pot has two small isolators. Both piecesbear the French “Minerve Premier Titre” hallmark, indicating the h...ighest quality of French sterling silver (950/1000), used inParis since 1838. The Minerve Premier Titre is the guarantee thatthe sterling is at least 95% silver. The tea pot also bears the maker's markconsisting of the name “Hugo” underneath a “huguenotte”, or cookingpot. Emile Hugo, famous master silversmith, was active in Parisbetween 1859 and 1880. He won awards at the Exposition Internationale in Paris in 1867. Hisworkshop was bought out by the Maison Tétard. These pieces are invery good condition with the exception of faint scratches on the surface andslight signs of wear on the isolators, all due to age and use.This stylish set will be an authentic French addition to your tablesetting or your collection.
