Size: Leaf is 4.2 inches long!This is an extremely large fossil leaf. It is a gigantic leaf of Populus wilmattae, a Poplar, from the Green River Formation of Utah. This teardrop-shaped leaf has a tight, branching base and a long acuminate apex. The detailed venation of the leaf is quite distinct a...nd easily seen with the naked eye. The LONG, complete petiole (stem) is still tightly attached to the base of the leaf. The impressive fossil has excellent natural color and contrasts beautifully with the khaki-colored plate of matrix. This is a fabulous example of a giant Poplar leaf from the Green River Formation.
