Description A really fabulous antique 19th Century solid silver gilt sewing set/etui in excellent condition and dating from around 1860-1880. Superb quality genuine 140+ year old set, guaranteed all original and matching,  consisting of 5 pieces; scissors, needle case, stiletto, thimble an...d needle. They all have the original gilded finish and are decorated with embossed flowers and swirls. The main items are further decorated with beautiful claw-set green cabouchon stones. All housed in its wonderful original & undamaged polished bone fitted case which has decorative engraved silver gilt hinges/fittings and a sprung push button lid catch. There are no added personal engraved inscriptions. A very rare set, looks very little used, from a genuine estate clearance.Measurements Case measures 4.8 inches (122mm) x 2.2 inches (56mm) x 0.85 inches (21mm) deep. The scissors measures 4 inches (102mm) in length.Date Antique 19th Century solid silver most probably French/German in origin, most pieces stamped with an "800" silver hallmark. 100% guaranteed antique solid silver and definitely all matching and dating from around 1860-1880.  Condition Excellent clean condition with no splits or repairs and no knocks or dents, a really superb set, looks so little used. Most of the original gilding is intact and the scissors are still razor sharp and have no blade rusting. All the claw-set green cabouchon jewels/stones are original and the beautiful polished bone case is in pristine condition, (no cracks or staining) with the original silver-gilt fittings all working perfectly. The lid still even springs open when the bone button is depressed. A very fine quality set and a rare find.
