Rated a R8. This a California Manufacturers license plate , from the Indian Factory 2004. This was one of the few existing factory plates from the Gilroy Indian Factory . The factory closed forever on Sept 19th 2003 . Shortly after the 2004 plates were issued . The production run of 2004 bikes began in late August and ended on September 19th. There were only 43 (2004) Bikes made before the closing and only 18 Chiefs. They have become the rarest Indians ever made and are exp...ensive . These plates are associated this Iconic and short lived history of the Indian Factory . There were only a few issued .Some show the department they were sued in . Such as testing . I can supply you with a certificate of provenance . This plate in not legal to be used in California and is sold as a historical piece of memorabilia . The see below and in the photos. I have a lot of them for sale , various years and some from other states , also some that are dealer plates , manufacturer plates and some that were vanity custom plates ( example CBX-6) Tri-TR6, The -X, One of these plates is a California plate that belonged to Arnold Schwartzneger and was used on his Indian Police bike in the movie Terminator 3. So check them out and you might find one that peeks your interest. I have been collecting these for years and there will be more to come . Some quite old. I Hope this helps some of you to find that right plate for the bike you love. Rated condition: first and foremost , I don't want to mislead anyone but this rating system is not perfect , so you buy what you see in the photos. The photos generally tell the story well and if the plate is bent , I try to show that in a side view photo. no warranty and no returns. The ratings are general in nature . 1 is the worst and 10 is brand new . with a number 1 you may not see any paint , as the numbers go up they get better and better, some times with a 7 thru 9 they may not look to different but maybe the letter color is clearer or the mounting holes crisper , or color brighter. But its a quick judgment call and you may find an 8 that is just as good as a 9 or the reverse. So you look and do the best you can and let my rating give you a general idea of condition. Rating #1 is the worst , terrible condition , rust bent , torn metal , very bad. #2 very bad , extra holes ? #3 Bad , might have rust, bends , a tear but has more paint and color #4 Fair condition , again some rust, bends , often extra holes drilled #5 Good , may have some bends enlarged holes and extra holes minor rust #6 Nice overall but with minor faults , could have enlarged holes Nice #7 Fine condition , minor flaws slight bends # 8 Extra fine , bright paint, crisp lines maybe a letter with faded paint #9 Excellent but used , some times these are actually new but storage worn . # 10 Perfect , new unused . As good as they get. Pricing is my call and not always based on condition, some times on age alone , some times on rarity. Oh and remember some people are looking for plates in rough condition to match the condition of an old unrestored bike. So some of these plates may have been wiped off , while other may be left rough and ugly. For certain most will look better if cleaned well and waxed.
