This listing features a spectacular two (2) specimen lot of black, yellow, red, white, gray, orange and brown opalized limb segments recovered from Denio Camp in Northern Nevada, a site close to Virgin Valley! The opal is of very high quality and preservation of the limb's exterior is immaculate! Specimens this size are rarely ever found and colorful, non-cut fossil woods this size are essentially non-existent at the site nowadays. Further complicating the harvesting of this fanta...stic fossil wood, it has been illegal to dig at this particular locale for decades. Denio Camp is illegal to dig as it has been included in the Lund Petrified Forest near Black Rock, Gerlach, Nevada. Although I cannot be certain, the specimens are likely Black Locust (Robinia Pseudoacacia). These particular specimens are among the most colorful display pieces I have possessed from this location! The specimens together weigh 12.5 ounces. Individually, they weigh and measure 1.) 7.2 ounces, 48mm by 44mm by 65mm 2.) 5.3 ounces, 62mm by 49mm by 40mm. All photographs taken while the specimen was wet excluding the final two photos which show the gem wood while dry. I will combine shipping for multiple purchases as long as the specimens can be packaged in a manner that will minimize the potential for damage.
