18th CENTURY VERNIS MARTIN faux TORTOISE SHELL FOX STALKING A HARE SNUFF BOX Description GEORGIAN 18th CENTURY VERNIS MARTIN FOX & HARE faux TORTOISE SHELL SNUFF BOX

This is a very fine quality Beautiful Georgian 18th century  Vernis Martin Hand Painted Fox & Hare... Scene faux TORTOISESHELL Snuff Box, i would estimate this rare snuff box dates to circa 1750 making over 260 years old, the quality is stunning, to the centre on the top you will see the most beautiful fine quality hand painted Rural Fox chasing a Hare Scene by a Tree and on a Cloudy Day , this wonderful 18th century rural fox & Hare scene continues around the sides of the box and also to the underneath on a Green Painted Background, the quality of the painting is superb and the Fox & Hare Scene is framed within a Silver Rocaille work Cartouche, its breath taking, on opening this rare box you will see the inside is crafted in faux TORTOISESHELL. The  Lid pulls off and pushes back, this would have once belonged to a very wealthy 18th century Gentleman in circa 1750, the quality of the craftsmanship is superb,  this snuff box is so very tactile and once held it has the most wonderful feel. condition is fair for the age of this Snuff Box with a little wear to the Paint on the side of the box , there is a little wear to the Faux Tortoise shell on the inside of the Lid, and when closing the box there is slight gap and it is a little springy, but it does close and is only mentioned for accuracy  This will add something very special to any collection, my photos dont do it justice, this is a very special large Georgian snuff box and will add something very special to any collection
