This fine barrel appears to be an early 1st gen cavalry barrel that left Colt as a 7 1/2 ' and was later returned to be altered for use in the Span Am. war as a 5 1/2" . The crown and front sight are correct, and the barrel address is the early 1873 to 1876 script . Underside of the barrel has the early Sn 0246, and a P proof, and up near the ejector stud the inspection C . This is a U.S. artillery 5 1/2" barrel.Rifling is good with some surface corrosion, and frost from age. It will s...pin a bullet. Check my inventory for unusual, and rare gun parts, and other items.
