A brown jade belt hook with a goose head has been re-purposed as a piece of jewelry circa 1900. A small translucent brown jade belt hook with a goose head has been mounted with a gilt bronze mount to form a jewelry pin in the late 19th century or early 20th C. The jade itself is likely significantly older. It is quite heavy and has a nice old hand polished surface. The color of the sides of the head of the dragon is a mottled with darker brown and russet veins. The top of the head... and the long end of the hook are somewhat lighter in color. The round button on the underside of the belt hook has been fitted with a bronze mount. This bronze mount is fitted with a pin. The mount on upper side of the belt hook has been tooled with a design of a Daoist fan. There are no marks or labels. MEASUREMENTS 3 1/8” (7.9 cm) long x ½” (1.3 cm) wide x 7/8” (2.2 cm) tall. Weighs .71 oz (19.9 g) CONDITION There are no breaks or chips on the belt hook. The mounts are not broken or dented. A nice antique jade that has been repurposed to sell to the west. It will be a nice addition to a jade collection or even worn as a piece of jewelry.
