Antique Black Forest Hand Carved Game Bird Wall Plaque~Applique.
Circa 1890.
Superbly highly detailed carving "Fruits of The Hunt" themed wall plaque.
This is a rare quality work of art done by master carver.This Black Forest plaque (old architectural element/applique) features a still life displaying a game bird (possibly a Quail)with stunning details. It is a true work of art dating to the late 19th century.The birds feathers and feet are amazing with th...e ruffles in the necks of the game birds.This is a great addition to any collection.
Good overall condition.Has a small loss on tip of beak .. as shown in all photos.
Has a great aged patina with a natrural wax finish.Has usual marks/scuffs etc commensurate with age and use..All nothing major, but noted.Will display well in any period, contemporary setting.Please see all photos, taken from all angles in good daylight for true condition.
Measures overall 17.5"tall by 10.75"across with a depth of around 3.5".
The bird measures around 8.5" tall and wing tip to tip measures 8".
