Limoges Antique Hand Painted Brauer Chocolate Pot Set Demitasse Cups and Saucers. Condition is Used. Shipped USPS First Class with insurance, tracking and signature required.
Exquisite hand painted Julius Brauer antique Limoges chocolate or coffee pot set. The 12 piece set includes pot and lid, 4 demitasse cups and 6 saucers. The painting is believed to reflect the Art Nouveau period given the floral and geometric representations, but perhaps the Art Deco period. The pot is abou...t 9.25 inches to tip of lid, spout to handle 7 inches, and 6 inches bottom diameter. The cups are about 2.75 inches tall. The saucers are about 4.75 inches in diameter. It is believed this set was not an initial purchase of the estate, but a later auction purchase by family member, and most probably from an Ohio or surrounding area auction.
From bottom of pot to bottom of handle a slight line remains that would seem to be an original greenware mark from the mold used. There are also a few bumps on the pot toward the bottom that can be noted in the last picture. This too most probably original to the piece during the manufacturing process. Of interesting note, all pieces within the set have the same WG Limoges mark with the exception of the saucers. 5 of the 6 saucers have a TV Limoges mark, and although from a similar time period, they are not WG.
This set is old and used. It is dirty and needs cleaned. There are no chips, crazing, cracking, or repairs that I can detect. It would appear to have never been used. It was used for display only during ownership of the past 2 generations. There is some slight rubbing of gold on the top of pot that I noted where the lid comes into actual contact with the pot.
