I did some poking around and found a book on the RS Williams and Sons company. I learned a great deal about the company from this book, however there is very little mention of banjos. According to the book, they started building banjos and other small stringed instruments in 1888 under the name "RS Williams and Son". They stopped making instruments in 1931 and became more of a wholesaler. The company went out of business in the 40s. Based on my research im estimating the 1920s&nbs...p; it is probably a little older. The serial # is 5256Very neat piece to ownIt also appears there has been a repair made at one time to the head by the top left tuning peg please see photos.
