THE CROCKERY IS PARTOF A LIMITED STOCK I NOW HAVE LEFT, OF JUST 6 FULL SETS AS PURCHASED AT THE DOVEBID AUCTIONS IN 2004----******----******----******----THIS STUNNING ROYAL DOULTON WHITE GLAZED BONE CHINA IS A FULL 10 PIECE DINNER SERVICE COMPLETE WITH A SET OF 3 NACHTMAN GLASSES, ALL WITH A FULLY SIGNED CERTIFICATE OF AUTHENTICITY FROM B.A. ** Note ** I am NOT including the original Conran Design Cutlery, Napkin and Ring as shown in the photos the Cutlery was phased out after the 9/11 Terror Attacks on the Twin Towers in New York, Plastic was used from then on and was rarely saved.
These are unused and were over ordered for the last refit of Concorde, BA not knowing then!! that this Icon was due to be retired in late 2003. All aspects of the 6 Fleet of Concorde's refit for 2000 were fully designed in great detail inside and out, under British Airways commission, by the Conran Group, just after the Chatham Flag branding began in 1998 and thus ready for the Millennium. A great deal of design prowess has gone into all the refit items and this is also seen in the Cutlery and Crockery as Conran used the shape and sheer beauty of this fabulous aircraft to influence their creations and thus tried to evoke the shape and smooth lines throughout their work.
On the Crockery the Concentric Ring Design was also inspired by the Curvature of the Earth, as seen from Concorde, as well as Air Flow eddies off the Wings and the Numerous round parts on this beautiful airplane!!!.
These designs were commissioned exclusively for Concorde, the Pride and Joy of the British Airways Fleet, Crockery and Nachtman glasses being used up to and including the last flights in 2003. S/Steel Cutlery was phased out after the 9/11 Terrorist attack on the Twin Towers, plastic was then Introduced For Safety (urghh).
I have not seen anything quite like these any where else as they are light yet chunky, being made in special White Glazed Bone China and they are a pleasure to use and hold. The full set can be seen in use and in photos that will be supplied to you and comprises of:- 1. Dessert Bowl - 18cm dia (EC 1141), 2. Salad Bowl - 14 d (EC 1137), 3. Cup - 7.5 d (EC 1135), 4. Small Plate - 13 d (EC 1138), 5. Medium Plate - 15 d (EC 1139), 6. Large Plate - 19 d (EC 1140), 7. Oval Canape Dish - 13.5 x 6.5 (EC 1144), 8. Butter Pat - 5 d (EC 1143), 9. Oval Dish - 17.5 x 14 (EC 1142), 10. Saucer - 12 d (EC 1136), making a complete Full Single Place Setting. NOTE Oblong Canape Dishes were added to later sales to form complete sets!! and were never used or supplied for Concorde initially!!.
As you will see from the on board inset photos of a typical in flight meal, it was rare to see a whole set in use at any one time and the cabin crew and chefs were very "Artistic" in the use of each piece for the different culinary offerings. All the crockery carries the relevant Concorde Code on the base of each item together with the manufacturer's stamp and British Airways Logo.
I now have just a few other items of Crockery left so be quick if you would like to own a couple more sets. Do let me know so I can list what I have left. Napkins and Rings are now in very short supply anywhere, as is Cutlery so will list them separately at some point in the future, that's if I find any more.
This new set will come with a Signed A4 Certificate of Authenticity with signatures from Mike Bannister, Rod Eddington and myself (with bat number), for full provenance.
You will receive them carefully packed in bubble wrap, within a strong box and are part of the lots I purchased from the Dovebid Concorde Auctions in April 2004 where I met up with Mike Bannister again, the last Chief Pilot and took many photos there.
I have photographed the original boxes for their details too, so you can see the item numbers from these as well, together with a set of photos showing this and other provenance will be included (showing on-board place settings etc:). All items here are brand new and have not seen any use and I can still supply odd pieces to customers who have accidentally broken items!! as I have a few spares too.
I will carefully box and bubble pack these to protect them in transit, and are to be sent by signed for, postage and can be fully insured if you wish. Weight of these 10 pieces of Bone China and Glasses etc; is just under 5Kg after being well packed, so does effect the postage cost going into much higher bands.
