In African art, Nkisis are the embodiment of voodoo and witchcraft. Nkisis don’t only cure but also protect and promote hunting or fishing. It can also be used as a weapon and have a negative effect on the people involved.
Nails were hammered into the mask head to activate its spiritual power. Magic charges were put into the cavity on the forehead and closed by a glass stop. The Mask has glass eyes and has kaolin ...in 4 colors blue, red, white and brown. On the back a big cap made from natural fibers.
Good condition, but with signs of use. Misses small piece of right ear. Please study the photos well.
