This is a stunningANTIQUE OAK & HORNDINNER GONG
In my estimation it dates from around the late 19th Century, circa 1870-1880, but please make up your own mind about this. The gong measures approx 11 inches (285mm) in diameter. It hangs from an imposing stand, made from a pair of cows' (or steers') horns, set upon a polished oak base, with ornate plated metal mounts.
The design is very impressive!
.../>The stand measures approx by 16 1/2 inches (420mm) tall, by 13 1/2 inches (345mm) wide. It is in very good, antique condition with light wear consistent with its age. The gong is marked with the trade mark

It is complete with its striker and sounds with a good, sonorous chime. This is a splendid example of its type, and it would make a great decorative piece and be a good addition to any collection.
What a way to call your guests to dinner! Please see the photos for condition and type.
(NB Small flaw at base of right hand metal mount, see photos) weight approx 2.9 kilos.
