Featured in this auction is a magnificent flower vase made by Rookwood Pottery. The vase is in excellent, near-perfect condition with no chips, no cracks, no crazing and no repairs. This statuesque and heavy piece is almost 9-1/2" tall, 3-1/2" wide at the body, and 2-1/2" wide at the mouth. The base of the pottery is stamped with the Rookwood Pottery flame mark, the shape number 2430 and the production year XX (1920). Stilt marks are visible. Th...e vase features an incredible arts-and-crafts design of towering, stylized thistles encircling the piece traveling up to a collared rim. This gorgeous glaze is a matte dusty-rose underglaze with a green overspray that has curdled beautifully on the piece and highlights the floral motif. This particular glaze color combination was one of the most popular that Rookwood produced in the 1920s. There are a few tiny glaze pinholes and some light peppering in the glaze at the collar. The vase does show some very-minor scratches which I note only for the sake of accuracy. They are almost not visible. The piece is presumed to have been gently used but is very clean both inside and out. Check out all 9 photos! This gorgeous arts-and-crafts vase would look amazing in your favorite display cabinet. It would also be perfect for any Rookwood or American art pottery collector. Check out my other pottery listings!
