Rare Antique Art Nouveau Royal Doulton Cannister, ' Flowers & Butterflies ' 1918

On offer is a rare & lovely Art Nouveau Royal Doulton lidded canister, 'Flowers and Butterflies' series D3947. It was made in 1918 according to the back stamp and pattern number. The canister has a blue transfer or flow blue/flow blue style floral background behind various beautiful multi-coloured butterflies in various poses.
This lovely patterned Art Nouveau canister would display beautifully in any vintage or antique display cabinet, or enhance a Royal Doulton collectio...n.
On the base of the canister is printed Royal Doulton lion back stamp with the handwritten pattern numbers D3947 L, though the number 3 in the pattern does not show completely. The pattern may be quite rare and hard to find as it was not in production very long and production discontinued before the end of the the World War I.

The body of this canister is in excellent used / pre-owned condition and I can see no chips, cracks, hairlines or glaze crazing. The gold gilding on the rim has some wear. The lid is fractured though remains fictional and sturdy. It is also not immediately noticeable until closer inspection. Please see photos.
