Glenn Hammond Curtiss [1878 1930] was a prominent aviation pioneer, Early Bird member and founder of the U.S aircraft industry. Curtiss began his career as a bicycle racer and builder before moving on to motorcycles. As early as 1904 he began to manufacture engines for aircraft. In 1908, Curtiss joined the Aerial Experiment Association [AEA] a pioneering research group which was founded by Alexander Graham Bell to develop and build airplanes. Curtis is also credited with flyi...ng the first officially witnessed flight in North America, won the world's first international air meet in France and made the first long-distance flight in the United States. Listed for auction is a [TLS] typed letter signed by Glenn Hammond Curtiss on the letterhead of Curtis Motors. The letter is dated April 7, 1915 and has interesting content. Curtis advises the recipient that Early Bird Charles B. Kirkham is employed as Chief Engineer with the Curtis Motor Company. The letter is signed ''G.H.Curtiss'' in black fountain above his typed title as president. The letter measures 8.50 x 11.00 inches, it has expected mail folds otherwise it is in fine condition and is ideal for display. The autograph is authentic, signed on a desirable letterhead and is a nice example of this aviation pioneer. We have listed a collection of military, aviation and astronaut autograph.
