This beautiful old carbon steel chef's knife's was made in USA by Ontario in their outstanding Tru-Edge line of cutlery, often called "Old Hickory" for the stamp placed on their hickory wood handles. This knife's markings have been scrubbed clear by use and cleaning but we warrantee its provenance--and it's been priced accordingly. This is a the most highly sought-after size for this knife, found here with a swift 6" blade (knife is 10-7/8" overall)--a nice smaller size that offers all the advantages of a larger knife without any clunkiness, making it a great piece for a smaller hand, but fully capable of delivering full-time performance to the largest one. It's a nice find in very nice condition, with undamaged handle, beautifully patinated by the touch of many years and a thousand hands. It has been professionally edged sharp enough to shave with. While the knife is perfect for effortlessly gliding through (not tearing) your finest prime meats, foul, poultry or fish, as well as for creating paper-thin slices of charcuterie, onion or whatever, its true calling is reducing large piles of fresh vegetables into much smaller piles of aromatic goodness for inclusion in your finest recipes. It is RAZOR sharp and will dispatch the largest piles of veggies in record time. If you've never used carbon steel knives before, you're in for a treat. Experienced chefs know that only a true carbon steel blade can consistently attain the razor-sharp edge that makes cooking a true pleasure (you must wipe the knife after every use to avoid stains and rusting, but will be richly rewarded with superior performance!). If you can only pay via some other method, email us prior to bidding. International packages will be calculated on the basis of a MINIMUM ONE POUND weight. International packages cannot be insured and we cannot be held responsible for packages lost or damaged in transit (we pack very well, but shipping overseas is strictly at buyer's risk). Want tracking? You will have to pay an additional $13.65 for Registered Mail or you may upgrade to the option of Express Mail International. IMPORTANT: After TWELVE YEARS of doing everything we could to hold the line on int'l. shipping costs, we have taken our LAST loss, so we've been forced to implement a new policy in which Shipping costs on ANY international parcel sold for over $75 will now include a required $13.65 Registered Mail fee in order to make your purchase trackable. This is 100% non-negotiable. The cost will be factored into the posted shipping costs of any item that STARTS at $75 or more, but if you purchase several items, the charge will have to be added at the end.
