Vintage Brush McCoy MCM Mint Green Oval Pedestal Scroll/Fern Planter 12" Wide x 5.75" Deep x 5.25" Tall
Delightful, vintage mint green / Jadeite oval pedestal planter by Brush McCoy. Unmarked, but matches other similar, although smaller pieces online. This is the only one that I could find in this larger size. The glaze has a brown speckle all over (reminds me of several of the classic speckled Haeger pieces that I have). At the base of the planter it has lovely embellishments... that really remind me of unfolding ferns or Fiddleheads (for those from upper New England like myself). Interestingly the photos that I took, the green seems to change color, but I changed nothing when taking the photos and basically took them one right after the other in the space of a few minutes with the same lighting and background. I think that this particular shade of green can look different depending on whether the light is in front or behind the source. So some of the photos that look more blue green or teal, I think the light was less bright than the ones where the green looks more "minty". Either way it is a lovely piece. Reminds me of mint chocolate chip ice cream! There is a little wear / roughness on the glaze around the upper edge/rim. Likely from a person having a plant in the piece and having dirt all the way to the upper edge for long periods of time. No chips, cracks, or repairs. Dated to be somewhere during the 1960s, but could be as early as 1940.
Thank you for your interest! Check my other offerings, I have multiple items in similar categories: Spode, Enoch Wedgwood, MCMMcCoy, Art Glass, and collectible teacup and saucers and much more.
