MID - 20TH C AMERICAN VINT MAGEE - HALE MUNICIPAL ' PARK - O - METER ' TOP/GLASS WINDOWS
Item History & Price
DESCRIPTION:For sale is this fairly well-preserved... mid-20th century American vintage metal street upright municipal parking meter, in classic silver metallic finish. It was manufactured by Magee-Hail and went under the brand name 'Park-O-Meter.' It was coin operated, accepting nickles, dimes and quarters. These municipal parking meters were once omnipresent features on urban, city streets and one could not grow up in the United States without coming into contact with them on street curbs and sidewalks, with the specter of the meter-maid being close behind, with parking ticket on the ready, enlisted to enforce parking regulations and to make sure the meters were fed by users. This particular meter didn't come with the round coin compartment key used to empty it of coins and has been separated from its cement filled metal post. The glass windows on the front and back are still intact and the enamel painted pivoting tabs move and aren't seized. There are some slight scuffs and scratches but it's still in fairly well preserved shape. A great mid-20th century American municipal urban artifact. How about that for a 'blast from the past?'
CONDITION:Good to Very Good overall vintage condition.
