This is an extremely unusual and interesting Arts and Crafts period carved and ebonised oak pocket watch stand. The head flips back to reveal a cavity for the pocket watch to sit. The carved head very much reminds me of the sort of grotesque head that Blanche Vulliamy would have designed. This piece is signed Jempson, obviously the name of the woodworker. It measures 31cm in length and 18cm tall and is in very good condition.
