This offering is for a 14 inch closed dome character doll marked “F 3” in script. The mark identifies the doll as an art character doll produced by the Belgian De Fuisseaux Doll Company. Early 5 piece French bodies were used by the company, as well as German ball jointed bodies, for the heads. This company was part of the character art doll movement near the end of WWI which included Marque, Van Rozen & Munich Art Dolls. HEAD: The doll has a perfect bisque solid dome swivel hea...d. It is easy to turn, pose & has no damage or restoration. There is a crisply molded facial expression filled with life & character. Other features include blue spiral glass fixed eyes, tiny painted lashes, tapered eyebrows & a closed mouth with a cute pouty expression. The bisque is finely colored & features naturally blushed cheeks. There is a tiny non-distracting rub on one cheek. A mohair light blonde wig, with a wrapped head braid & long tendrils, is worn. BODY: The doll has its original French 5 piece body with straight limbs. It was re-painted in the past so there is expected wear in the joint areas. The overall condition is very good for this antique French body. COSTUME: Dolly wears a vintage full length starched transparent white dress. It has gathered peach colored tucks above the waist & starched embroidered lace trim on the bodice, sleeves & hem. A beautiful antique cotton white eyelet apron is also worn. The vintage red straw hat that's worn draws attention to the doll's face. Matching newer red side button shoes complete the costume which is in excellent condition.
