Very rare original Chrysler two-piece oval style enamel radiator badge emblem insignia nameplate. Walter Chrysler started building cars with his name in 1923 in Detroit. Online research indicates this type of emblem was used from mid 1927 to mid 1928 on the Series 72 six cylinder cars only but I do not know exact year or application for this example. Badges like these were made using the champleve or guilloche process of heat bonding melted glass to a copper base wh...ich was then plated. This is a two piece emblem, the base is 1 11/16" wide by 2 1/8" high, translucent purple enamel over a textured background with nickel plating. It is curved top to bottom to fit on radiator shell. The separate ribbon style nameplate is 1 1/8" wide by 1 3/16" high, translucent red enamel with gold plating. Both pieces are in very good to excellent used condition with no damage and minor wear. All enamel is intact in excellent shape. Most of the original plating is in good shape with slight wear, the ribbon emblem needs cleaning. Original stud, washer and nut mounting is intact and useable. No makers mark visible. Very hard to find, great for your collection, use as is on a driver or easily restored.
