The black background made it look a different color. The first photo is the closest to actual color of the Axe head. It was an estate find and I was told it had been handed down from generation to generation, As I remember it was found when plowing a field somewhere in Cape May County NJ. I buy antiques and collectables but I don't know the origin or tribe of this one. I bought it for my husband about 20 years ago. There is some mustard yellow something that looks like paint on o...ne of the sides looks like maybe used at one time for ceremony ? don't know. It measures approx. 7.1/4" tall by approx. 5 " wide by approx. 2.1/4" deep at the deepest part, the groove is approx. 1 inch and it weighs 4.4 lbs. Picture 4 shows the side with the mustard yellow paint and picture 5 shows the edge. There are some tiny chips on the edge felt by rubbing your fingers across or upon close inspection.
