This is an auction for a beautiful Victorian Black Jet Beaded Mantle in good to very good antique condition. It is a magnificent work of art; hand-sewn with couture detail - hand beaded with thousands of luscious glass beads designed into flowers, bouquets and scrolling leaves. The piece is lined with a heavier silk taffeta (please see the inside of the piece presented in the last 3 photos) which is in very good condition. The piece is from London and has been on exhib...it at The Lace Museum Detroit. It is now a de-accession and will be hard to part with. It is in good to very good condition because there are areas where some beads have loosened and there are some threads askew (we took very close up photos in order for you to see the threads) HOWEVER, overall it is a sold piece with only minor flaws (no beads are dropping from the piece when held or displayed). There are two (2) to three (3) hooks missing from the front of the piece that can be easily replaced if desired. The high collar has its hood/eyes present. The mantle measures 23" in length; High Collar (when closed) 16.5" ; Shoulder to Shoulder Front Seams 13"; Shoulder to Shoulder Seams Back 13".
