Here is a very nice Edward vom Hofe model 491 size 3/0. It was given as a prize trophy for the Indian Harbor Striped Bass Club. It is marked on the face plate, "1915 - Indian Harbor Striped Bass Club - Light Tackle Prize - Won By - Frederic S. Doremus". It is also marked with the Edward vom Hofe maker and 1896 Patent marks on both bearing covers. The reel is in excellent condition with no chips or cracks in the hard rubber. The reel spins effortlessly... and the drag works well also. According to a reference I found in "The American Angler", in order to be in the Indian Harbor Striped Bass Club you had to be a member of the Indian Harbor Yacht Club. F.S. Doremus is mentioned as a prominent member in the club. I also found in a December 5th 1914 issue of "Forest & Stream" showing Mr. Doremus as winning several prizes. Shipping will be USPS Priority with full insurance packed in a strong tube. Please see photos for condition and message me any questions and comments.
