For sale is an Old Antique GEORGIAN ENGLISH CLARET OLD SHEFFIELD PLATE OSP BOTTLE COLLAR / NECK RING DECANTER LABEL / BOTTLE TICKET.This is a wonderful and quite unusual Antique English "Neck Ring" Decanter Label.Designed to slip over and rest on the shoulder of a decanter or claret jug.Fine Quality - it is slanted rather than cylindrical so it sits properly.Georgian period.We believe this date...s to the first half of the 19th Century.
Reeded edge. Engraved "Claret".It is Unmarked.Almost certainly Old Sheffield Plate - OSP.
Thickness: 3/8 of an inch (1 cm)Inner Diameter: 2 3/4 inches (just under 7 cm)
The solder line is visible (in fact, it is through the word 'Claret' - see photos).Minor overall wear from age and handling (see photos).Otherwise, it is in Very Good Condition- there are no other condition issues or damage.
