Vintage Suiseki Japanese Five Peak Mountain Viewing Stone Art With Signed Diaza. Purchased in Asia in the aftermath of WWII (Late 1940s) by a Navy Officer as a gift for his wife. This gorgeous piece of art was a prized possession. The stone, smoothed by thousands of years of flowing water, is colored with the highly sought after black with marbling of grey and white. Complete with an artist signed hand carved diaza wooden stand, this is an ...ultimate example of exquisite Asian Suiseki art.
This artwork is the ideal size for a desk, mantle or shelf. Height of tallest peak to bottom of diaza - 7.5", Width 14" and a depth of 8" front to back. These are approximate measurements as the piece is dynamic and difficult to exactly pin down. Weight is 13 lbs and 10.8 oz. The diaza is a two tier carved wooden beauty with 3 small feet that fits this stone with amazing precision. These stands are artwork themselves. I don't know what type of wood it is, however, it is of a mahogany/cherry color. There is one restored crack in the wood (photo provided) that takes intention to see.
This is a purchase of great earth energy and meaning. Retirement, Wedding or another substantial Birthday or life moment. A Father's Day, Mother's Day or representation for someone of five children or five siblings, Five year anniversary and certainly bonsai lovers. Or, it is the perfect purchase that provides calmness and a sense of permanency. You will treasure this piece on a mantle, shelf, or desk.
