The Detrola Model D was manufactured by the Detrola Corporation in Detroit, Michigan from circa 1938 to 1940. This candid type camera was constructed of bakelite with a square chromium plated metal faceplate, chromium plated exposed metal parts, a built-in optical view finder and a bulit-in (Density type) exposure meter with a complete set of exposure charts. The camera was capable of capturing sixteen exposures on standard 8 exposure f...ilm no. 127 roll film for taking 1 5/8 inch by 1 3/8 inch negatives. It was designed with a telescoping lens mount and a Detrola f4.5 Anastigmat or a Wollensak f4.5 Velostigmat fixed focus lens corrected for color photography. The shutter was a Deltex Wollensak which provided instantaneous speeds from 1/25 to 1/200th of a second, along with time and bulb exposures. It also featured a micromatic focus adjustment, a set of 3 exposure calibrator discs, tripod mount and cable release.
