German WW2 Siemens F33 Field Phone W/ Unusual Side Plug - Ringer

Black bakelite, catch for the lid works fine. Ringer works, this one is a little unusual in a couple of respects. The phone cord is permanently attached to the phone down through the little storage well and not with the normal plug. Also both the attachments for the field strap have been removed. There is a Waffenamt on the inside of the lid along with the remnants of a Leipzig label. Made by Siemens, the most unusual thing is the is a port on the si...de with a screw cap. I did all kinds of searching and could find nothing about what this was for. None of the other F33 phones have this. Also comes with the red/black wiring pictured. Thank you!
