A fine George III solid silver Hanoverian tablespoon, made in London in around 1765. There are no engraved initials or crests. There is a shell on the heel of the bowl.
Hallmarks: The spoon is English sterling silver hallmarked for London c.1765 (Lion Passant, Leopard Head Crowned, Date Letter ?). The maker's mark 'AB' refers to the silversmith Alexander Barnet, who is known to have been active in 1765.
Dimensions: It is 20.5 cm long and weighs 59g.&nbs...p;Condition: The spoon is in good general condition, with just one tiny ding in the bowl, and no splits or repairs. Surface scratching commensurate with age. The date hallmark is not quite readable. Some wear to the shell pattern. Please see photos.
