Antique Hand Fan
This is an awesome antique hand fan with peacock feathers, silver handle (silver or plated, no mark located), and fine goldwork (metal thread) embroidery. The goldwork appears to have paillettes (or spangles) in the design. Era is estimated Edwardian or Art Deco time period. Believe the origin is Persian (there is a little handwritten Farsi script beneath the feathers on the paper foundation, the support system for the... feathers ~ not easily seen or located).
History: The fan was framed in 1975 in Topeka, Kansas. It was recently unframed.
Measurements: 10 inches wide, 11.5 inches in length.
Condition: Antique, a solid but delicate item with tarnished handle. Some tiny feathers may come loose if not handled properly. Wonderful goldwork embroidery! Unframed. An original and untouched item with minor antique imperfections.
Notes: Ours is a smoke-free and pet-free home that does not use harsh chemicals or sprays, but vintage and antique items have been exposed to unknown factors.
