This brass Buddha statue dates from the mid to late 1800's and made in Siam (Thailand). This was during the height of the Siamese empire and the strange lines that go down both sides of the statue are not cracks or mistakes. They are design elements which I am told represent vines growing up the sides of a famous huge Buddha monument. As the Siamese empire progressed they went from using bronze to using more brass. The statue is just over 9 inches tall, 7.5 inches at the b...ase and 4.25 inches in depth. It weighs ~ 2 pounds and 10 ounces. The top part of the statue is still filled with the original casting sand which was then covered with mortar that locks in the sand and gives the statue more weight and stability.This beautiful piece is guaranteed with a 30 day free return policy in the US 50 states.
