Antique Waterman’s Ideal #12 Fountain Pen w/ Vintage 14K Gold Super Flex Nib w/ Long Tines (NEEDS CAP & NIB NEEDS REPAIR)Here you have a rare fountain pen from the great Waterman Fountain Pen Company. It’s in fair condition for its age of at least 100 years old. It has no cracks or fractures on the body. The body is mostly worn and the color has faded but you can still see the Waterman name and Ideal Globe logo on the barrel. The feed under the nib is in great condition with no cra...cks. The section has some small pits (see photo) but no cracks and the pen needs a cap. As for the lovely Waterman’s Ideal 14K #2 gold nib, it has really amazing flex that opens and springs back up easily and is super smooth (like ice skating) when writing and that’s surprising as it doesn’t seem to have iridium left. Depending on how you write with it, you might want to have it re-tipped. It writes bold so it would be great for drawing or shading. It’s such a pleasure to shade with it! Please also note that the heart breather hole has two small hair line fractures on the sides of it so that should be repaired or some care should be taken when flexing in order not to damage it further. The nib has longer tines than the usual Waterman #2 nibs and so it almost looks or doubles like a size #3. Overall, this is a great pen with a lot of potential from the great pen makers of the past!
