Comeback (returning) hunting boomerang - black wattle timber..Individually hand-crafted from the Australian Black Wattle tree, this beautiful handmade returning (comeback) hunting boomerang is a collector’s item.Black wattle timber is very hard to find and these returning boomerangs are handmade by a master craftsman.These traditionally made hunting comeback boomerangs are made by 80 years old Aboriginal Elder, Joe Skeen Snr, whose late father, William Skeen, taught him this traditio...n as a young boy.Joe Skeen and his family spend many days along river banks looking for the right shaped black wattle roots that Joe can shape in the traditional manner that he was taught over 70 years ago.Joe Skeen is a Kuku-Thaypan elder and third generation Aboriginal boomerang maker. This is a traditional hunting boomerang and unlike our other hunting boomerangs, it is meant to return to its owner. According to Joe Skeen it was mainly used to scare game like ducks and kangaroos or emus, and make the animals move in a certain direction where hunters would use spears and killer hunting boomerangs to kill animals for food.This comeback is meant to travel in the direction thrown and return to the thrower.Size: 24-28 inches wide
