BRACKET w/ FONT, BURNER, CHIMNEY, & REFLECTOR
CIRCA LATE 1800sTHIS IS A GUARANTEED GENUINE ANTIQUE CAST IRON BRACKET LAMP COMPLETE WITH FONT, BURNER, CHIMNEY, AND MERCURY GLASS REFLECTOR. The bracket is unmarked, which at least suggests it was made before the McKinley Tariff Act of 1891, requiring the country of origin to be on each article. It is complete with the swing arm and wall mount, as well as cup, font, burner, chimney, and reflector. The cup mounts by a threaded peg. That and the bracket have traces of old gold paint, which I believe is original. The brass-colored burner is an Eagle #2, which is almost certainly later, probably mid-20th Century. The font, which has old kerosene residue in the bottom, is original; the chimney may or may not be an original 19th Century one--it was certainly dirty enough when I got it to be! The reflector is a HUGE one, approximately 9.25 inches diameter. Its mounting hardware may not be "factory, " but is quite old and well-made, maybe by a tinsmith. No chips, cracks, or breaks.
It will be shipped double-boxed, and the outer box measures 16 X 16 X 16 inches. Some may think that is excessive, but the fact is I have shipped bracket lamps in smaller boxes and/or without double boxing, and have had breakage. I do not want this one to suffer the same.If you are dissatisfied with this item, please contact me before you enter a complaint through eBay. I can do anything they would require of me, and probably faster, as my aim to is have satisfied customers. One final thought: in today's economy, where are you going to put your money? Under your mattress? In AIG stock maybe? I'm not smart enough to tell anyone what will and won't appreciate in value, but I do know that a thing of beauty is a joy forever. OK, not literally forever, because none of us will be around on earth that long, so we should store up treasure in heaven (Matthew 6: 19-20). But while doing that, consider what things of beauty we can afford to have around in the here and now, things that we can be stewards of for a time, and then have the joy of passing on to someone else.NO RESERVE!MY PLEDGE TO YOU: no surprises!
