Special events and Stake races will carry letter "S".than 5/16ths.The racing performance of the greyhounds determines their grading. Grades will be assignedin conformity with the following system:The winner of any race is advanced one grade.A greyhound falling to finish as good as fourth in three consecutive starts, or as good asond in four starts, regardless of any previous thirds or fourths in the same grade, is loweredsecarade. Greyhounds fnishing second remain in the same grade until aforesald provisionslower it.Freeption to the above rule may be made when, in the opinion of the Racing Secretary, ahardship is being imposed on young greyhounds. The exception to apply only to greyhoundswhelped September, 1952, and later. These greyhounds may be lowered after failing to finishga good as fourth in two consecutive starts, or as good as second in three starts.Greyhounds entered for Stake events, or their eliminations, shall be drawn without regard tograde; their performances in such Stake events will determine their future grade. Non-winnersof Stake events return to previous grade. Winners of such events may or may not be advanced, at Racing Secretary's discretion.Greyhounds of two different grades may be used together in all races longer than 5/16ths.The winner of any of these races advance one grade from their previous grade; non-winners givenallowance for their start in the usual manner. In races of this kind only the higher of the twogrades will be shown in the program.The Racing Secretary may lower any greyhound one grade at a time until such greyhoundfinishes as good as fourth if, in his opinion, such greyhound is entitled to classification relief.If a greyhound falls during the running of an official race, the assigned grade remains thesame as though no race had been run.
