Very rare original Rickenbacker "Hat-in-the-Ring" enamel radiator badge emblem insignia nameplate logo. The Rickenbacker was built from 1922 to 1927 in Detroit, named after the famous World War 1 air ace Eddie Rickenbacker. The Hat-in-the-Ring logo came from his wartime flying squadron. Online research indicates this type of emblem was used in 1926 and 1927 but I do not know exact model or application for this example. Emblems like these were ...made using the champleve or guilloche process of heat bonding melted glass to a copper base which was then plated. 2 13/16" wide by 1 13/16" high, translucent red, white, blue and black enamel with nickel plating. Maker's mark "THE D.L. AULD CO. COLUMBUS, O." on back. Good to very good used condition, no dents or cracks, shallow bend at top left center, a few very minor scratches. Two small areas of enamel loss and minor crazing, balance of enamel is close to perfect. Original plating intact and shiny, mounting cup is intact and useable.
