Vintage Dexter 48912 Knife 17" Long 12'' Blade Carbon Steel Blade?. Condition is Used. Shipped with USPS Priority Mail.You are looking at a wonderful vintage 48912 Dexter chef's knife! This came from an estate in Ithaca, New York!measures a whopping 17 1/4 inches long. The blade is 12 inches long. It is about 2 3/4 wide at the hilt. It weighs an impressive 12 ounces!
The handle is made of wood. It reads, "48912 DEXTER" stamped on one side. There is some discolouration on the metal o...f the handle.
Could use a good cleaning up and sharpening, I will leave that up to the new owner (I didn't want to risk damaging it).
"The Harrington Cutlery Company was established in 1818, in Southbridge, Massachusetts by Henry Harrington, a New England craftsman and inventor. The Harrington Cutlery company was the first cutlery manufacturing company established in the United States. Harrington manufactured surgical equipment, shoe knives and firearms. Some of his firearms are on display at the Old Sturbridge Village Museum in Sturbridge, MA. In 1884, Harrington introduced the Dexter trade name. Named after one of his sons, Dexter Harrington, the Dexter line of kitchen and table cutlery became known for its high quality in American homes and restaurants."This line of knives is still in business today!
A wonderful addition to any collection and please view all the pictures for details and condition on this preowned and neat item it does have a burn mark as shown in pictures and some blemishes edge looks good to me
