Antique old wooden shaft Scottish putter forged by D. Anderson & Sons of St. Andrews. This is the ACE model with the face noticeably forward of the hosel. An onset design. Also a muscle back design. Tapers from a narrow top line to a sole with a good amount of width. A semi-mallet design with the weight low in the club head. Club shows light play with just a few scant nicks to leading edge. Mottled gray/brown patina throughout. ...There is a very light pitting to parts of the club head, mostly on the backside, nothing unsightly or bad by any means. Stampings are readable, "D. Anderson & Sons." Also stamped 'ACE' putter. Hosel pin is scantly detectable. Shaft could well be an original and remains straight. No cracks or chips to the shaft. Shaft is stiff with no rattles when bounced around. A solid club. Swingweight at B0. Club is 33 3/4 inches. Old period leather wrap grip is intact and not dry. Quite unusual and hard to find club. Club is featured in the 2nd edition of the great book by Jeff Ellis 'The Clubmaker's Art' page 190. Please see my other wood shafted and vintage collectible golf clubs. Some are quite rare.
