Antique Currier And Ives Lithograph - Hunting On The Plains Buffalo
Item History & Price
This is a very tough one to find as an original. This is an antique hand colored lithograph an original period frame. Please do not confuse this with the "calendar pages and later reprints."
This is the real McCoy!
One of the more desirable scenes of American History!
It came from a great lifelong collection of great American Printmakers. So be sure to check out my other listings. This is a classic... piece of real Americana. When you see prints like this you can see why Currier and Ives is one of the most sought after printmakers in American History. Both for their ability to execute amazingly high quality work but also because of their wide array of subject mater that really captures the essence of Americana. This Lithograph measures about 11" by 14". The frame is about 17" by 21" including the extensions. In an original period frame this print still has vibrant colors. This is one of several of a collection that was acquired from a stately manor and by a collector who was very particular in his tastes. This print is an original and dates to the late 1800's. Be sure to check out my other listings from this collection for some very unique prints.
This is a true period piece and is probably about 150 years old. Colors still look pretty good nice vibrancy. the bottom left hand corner is not perfect and a few imperfections here and there see photos. Is very nice but not perfect. please see all photos as they are the best description of the item.
