For auction in this instance is a scarce cast-iron Victorian "Bat Theme Door Knocker & Letter Surround", manufactured in the UK by the company "A. Kenrick & Sons".
The assembly measures 9.5 inches high x 3 inches wide x 1.75 inches deep.
Regarding condition, the upper part of the letter surround part has had a "welding repair" on 2 sides ( see close-up photos with biro pens pointing ), however, I have had this item for 12 years ( never used it ) and the repair was present... upon purchasing the item. The repair has got some age and it has been done well. It could benefit from some "filing" to the sides though.Moving on, the "letter door" needs a simple spring fitting to ensure it remains closed when not in use.As for the condition of the rest of the door knocker assembly, the front retains its original "dark brown" colouring and I would describe the overall condition as being "Excellent" ( 8/10 ).
